| 9/13/2011 | Palmer Ridge 8 Vs. Mitchell 0 WIN
The Bears were looking to rebound from their first loss, and Mitchell had the unfortunate position of being the rebound game. The Bears were dominant from the start but found it hard to find the net. Liam Mazurowski and Jacob Escobedo put Palmer Ridge up by 2 at the half, but there could have been many more goals given the chances created. The boys came out more motivated in the second half and found the net five times in the first 10 minutes of the half. Liam recorded 2 more goals to complete his hat track, Luke Sinkola added 2, and Owen Braley added another in the opening ten minutes. About 10 minutes later Connor Bodily added the final score for the Bears making the final score 8 - 0. Assists were recorded by Garrett Fritzsche(2), Gabe Aguero, Luke Sinkola Aaron Wilson(2), Zach Hilton, and Andrew Bell. Palmer Ridge will look to improve their league record to 2 and 0 when they play Vista Ridge in their next contest. | | | 9/10/2011 | Palmer Ridge 0 vs. Pueblo West 2 LOSS
Though the Bears looked like the better team early on, the tide changed towards the end of the first half and the Cyclones were able to grab a goal. Palmer Ridge found it tough to get the ball cleared and it wound up on the foot of a cyclone in the box with only Hayden Davis in goal to try to make the stop. The forward did his job and the Bears found themselves down 1 - 0 at halftime. Again in the second half Palmer Ridge looked to be the aggressor and had some good chances early on. However, it was west again who capitalized on an opportunity and put the team down by 2. The Bears worked hard and tried to get a foot hold in the game from there, but it was not to be. Palmer Ridge was handed its first loss and will look to regroup in their first league match on Sept. 13th against Mitchell. | | | 9/6/2011 | Palmer Ridge 5 Vs. Windsor 1 WIN
The Bears avenged last years loss to the windsor wizards on tuesday the 6th. The team started a little slow but eventually hit their stride. Zach Hamilton-Smith started the scoring with a goal that appeared almost impossible and gave the Bears a 1-0 halftime lead. From there the boys began to roll and scored two more goals early in the second half. Windsor tried to mount a comeback when they got a goal to make it 3 to 1, but Palmer Ridge proved too much for them as they added two more goals to secure the win. Zach Hamilton-Smith had two goals and Aaron Wilson, Owen Braley and Victor Quirino rounded out the scoring with a goal a piece. Aaron Wilson, Zach Hilton, and Garrett Fritzsche all had an assist. Jacob Escobedo added two assists as well for the Bears. This was the Bears 20th consecutive home victory and the boys are working to keep that streak alive. The Team travels to Pueblo west next to take on last years #4 seed. | | | 9/1/2011 | Palmer Ridge 3 Vs. Valor Christian 1 WIN
The Bears posted their first win of the season in their first game of the season. The visiting Valor Christian Eagles came out looking to give the Bears all they could handle. The Eagles are an improved side from last season and worked hard to create good chances early on, but it was the Bears that got on the score sheet first. In the last minute of the first half Aaron Wilson scored off an assist from Garrett Fritzsche. The second half saw the Bears dominate possession until the lights unexpectedly went off. After a 25 minute delay there was a momentum shift and Valor grabed a goal to tie the game. But Palmer Ridge wasn't done and Garrett Rogers finally got the game winner off another Fritzsche assist. Rogers won an excellent header and buried it in the back of the net. Owen Braley rounded out the scoring for the Bears off of an assist from Gabe Aguero. PR now turns their attention to Windsor who handed them one of their 4 losses last season. The boys will surely be looking for a little revenge when the Wizards roll into town. | |
